Club Weekly Update (10-08-10)

Mens Intermediate Championship Drumcliffe/Rosses Point opened the championship last saturday the 7th of August evening in Kilcoyne Park Tubbercurry against a fancied Easkey side. In a thrilling game which was won by the narrowest of margins seen County star Eugene Mullins having an early exit due to an injury sustained we wish him a speedy recovery. At the break the side were even 0-7 points each nothing to separate the sides. This was real edge of the seat stuff. A late long range point from Philip Gallagher, following a well won ball from sub Brian Monaghan was enough to win a hard fought match. There was never more than a point between the teams. Brian Holland had little to do but late on pulled off a reflex save when required. The defence put in a sterling performance with all 6 playing at the top of there games. Brian Og Murphy & Colin Ginty won a fair share in the middle with the help of Dara Kivlehan. Up front Paul Logan stole the show with 6pts on his Championship debut. Canning & Gallagher carved Easkey open on a few occasions and kept there backs busy. A great start to the campaign. Thanks to Martin Gallagher for his work with the lads in the past few weeks.
